We're excited to invite our membership to join us IN-PERSON again in 2022 for WNA's Membership Assembly and Annual Meeting at the DoubleTree by Hilton - Madison East. If you are unable to attend for the entire day, we have arranged both in-person and VIRTUAL joining options for the afternoon Annual Meeting only.
Our day will have two parts:
Part I. In-person WNA Dialogue Forum - 8:15 am – 12:00 pm
The Dialogue Forum provides a formal process for members to respond to and improve a topic that has relevance to WNA members, the nursing profession and/or the public. There are two very relevant topics that will be discussed for those attending the meeting. The outcome from the Dialogue Forum is the development and presentation of recommendations for action by WNA for each topic. These recommendations will be presented to and voted on by the members attending the afternoon WNA Annual Meeting. The topics for the 2022 Dialogue Forum are:
#1. Digital health literacy for the nursing workforce and consumers of health care
#2. Preparing nurses to respond to public health emergencies through a health disparities lens
The Dialogue Forum process will be as follows:
1. Overview of the topic
2. Interactive Panel presentation and discussion
3. Participant discussion
4. Identification of WNA’s role in addressing or advancing the important issue
5. Group develops recommendations for action by WNA
6. Present the recommendations for WNA action to the membership attending the WNA Annual Meeting.
Part II. In-person and virtual WNA Annual Meeting 12:15 – 1:15 pm
The purpose of the Annual Meeting is to provide the membership:
1. Relevant information
2. Vote on action items:
• Member Dues Increase
• Recommendations from the Dialogue Forum
3. Announcement of WNA election winners
4. Nightingale Tribute to honor recently departed nurses (Learn more / submit a nurse's name)
COVID-19 Information: WNA requires all attendees to have available documentation of COVID-19 vaccination along with your state ID to enter the venue. Pursuant to the current Dane County Health Department Emergency Order, we will require masks to be worn by all attendees when inside the DoubleTree.

The Nurses Foundation of Wisconsin (NFW) has selected the awardees for the 2021 Research Grant and Educational Scholarships Awards.
WNA members were notified of the call for applications with the submission deadline of October 1, 2021.
The NFW Research Grant Awardee is Kathleen Elertson, MSN, RN, DNP, APNP.
Dr. Kathleen Elertson, MSN, RN, DNP, APNP is from West Bend and is the Interim Director of Post-Licensure Program, for University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. Her research project title is Evaluation of Simulation Training on Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment for Adolescent Substance Abuse in Pre and Post Licensure Nursing Programs. NFW awarded Dr. Elertson $1,000 to support her research.
The NFW Educational Scholarship Committee selected two WNA members to receive $1,000 each to support their educational goals.
The NFW Educational Scholarship Awardees are Stacey Stevens, Mdiv, BSN, RN and Abby Hammes, MSN, RN, BC
Stacey Stevens, Mdiv, BSN, RN, is from Cadott and is currently enrolled in a DNP at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.
She is a graduate assistant for the College of Nursing and a staff nurse at Dove Healthcare – Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center. Stacey is pursuing a DNP in clinical adult and gerontology which she will use in her role as a nurse educator.
Abby Hammes, MSN, RN, BC, is from Madison and is currently enrolled in the Nursing PhD program in Policy and Leadership at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She is currently a teaching assistant for the School of Nursing.
