What inspired you to pursue a career in nursing?
I had several eye surgeries as young child and wanted to help others.

How long have you been a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association?
30 years

What do you enjoy most about being a nurse?
Making a difference in a patient’s day.

Can you share a memorable experience from your nursing career?
Leading multiple medical mission trips to Haiti, Dominican Republic and Belize

How has being a member of WNA benefited your professional development?
Being a member has keep me up to date on current issues for nu…nvolved in WNA on APRN Board and District President years ago.

What advice would you give to new nurses entering the field?
It is can be the most rewarding profession helping others but also the most heart breaking.

What are your favorite ways to unwind and practice self-care?
Being just outside gardening, cooking, hikes in woods, fishing.

How do you stay current with the latest developments and best practices in nursing?
Multiple on-line Medical sites, Up to Date, Open Evidence, AANP

What impact do you hope to make in your community through your work as a nurse?
Inspire others to go into nursing as a career or advancing their career.

What does being part of the WNA community mean to you?
Being with others that are nursing leaders and advocates in our state.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Fishing, Reading, Gardening or doing anything outside. Watching romantic movies.

What’s your go-to comfort food?
Dark Chocolate

What’s something on your bucket list that you hope to accomplish?
My biggest thing I wanted to accomplish after I became a Nurse Practitioner was to see the Nurse Practitioners in Wisconsin practice independently and we did it this year.
