Wisconsin Nurses Association Congratulates Wisconsin’s First Registered Nurse, Lieutenant Governor, Sara Rodriguez on Her Victory

WNA congratulates Sara Rodriguez, MSN, RN, MPH, on her victory in her race for Wisconsin lieutenant governor. She was on the ticket with Wisconsin’s current Governor, Tony Evers.

Sara Rodriguez is a registered nurse, small business owner, and currently represents Wisconsin’s 13th Assembly District. During the last legislative session, she supported the inclusion of $5 million in the state budget that provides loan forgiveness for nurses pursuing an advanced nursing degree to work as a nurse educator. Sara actively supported the passage of the APRN Modernization Act which if enacted, would have increased the supply of advanced practice registered nurses practicing independently through licensure.

Sara has more than 20 years of experience in the business and health care sector with a record of advocating for access to quality health care, small businesses, and education. “As lieutenant governor she will utilize her population and public health expertise to support equitable and accessible health care. We have no doubt that Sara will continue her approach to addressing problems that rooted in fact-based practices, science, and connecting with communities across Wisconsin”, states Beth Markham, WNA President.

WNA looks forward to working with Lieutenant Governor, Sara Rodriguez.
