Nominations for the 2019 NP Forum Board of Directors is Now Open!

The WNA Nurse Practitioner Forum Board of Directors is now accepting nominations for the 2019 NP Forum Elections. The Board of the NP Forum consists of Nurse Practitioners with the exception of the WNA Board of Director elected APRN Representative who may be any APRN role.

Nominations for open positions will be accepted January 15 – February 28, 2019.

Membership is open to all Wisconsin Nurses Association members who are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and members who are studying for an APRN eligible role. The Board of the MIG shall be comprised of Nurse Practitioners with the exception of the WNA Board of Director elected APRN Representative who may be any APRN role.

Each candidate will be vetted prior to appearing on the ballot by members of the NP Forum.

The Board of Directors of this MIG shall consist of three (3) officers and six (6) directors, one of whom is the WNA Board elected APRN Representative. The officers shall be the President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer. The six directors serve as the Nominating Committee. The Executive Committee is comprised of the officers.

The regular term of all officers and directors shall commence at the adjournment of the annual meeting. The terms shall continue for two (2) years or until their successors are elected. The President, Secretary/Treasurer and at least three (3) directors shall be elected on odd numbered years, the one director position is the APRN member of the WNA Board who is elected in the Fall of the odd number year, and the Vice-President and at least three (3) directors on even numbered years.


Open Positions

Officers of the Board:

President

Duties:

  1. Preside at all meetings of the MIG.
  2. Prepare meeting agendas.
  3. Be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee.
  4. Appoint any special committees necessary to further the work of the MIG.
  5. Replace any officer who has unexcused absences from two meetings during a 2-year term.
  6. Represent the MIG at appropriate WNA meetings.
  7. Submit yearly report to WNA.
  8. Be a member (or designate a member) of WNA Public Policy Council.
  9. Serve as co-chair of the APRN Roundtable with APRN Representative to the WNA Board.

Secretary/Treasurer

Duties:

  1. Keep and maintain minutes of all meetings.
  2. Organize all official communication.
  3. Receive income and expense reports from WNA.
  4. Transfer maintained minutes to new Secretary/Treasurer.

Directors

Board Duties:

  1. Approve the appointment of special committees.
  2. Fill vacancies on Board as they occur until next election.
  3. Work with WNA in the authorization of contracts and expenditures of the MIG.
  4. Conduct the business of the MIG in the interim between membership meetings.
  5. Implement and interpret the functions of the MIG as set forth in the guidelines.
  6. Review the guidelines and prepare revisions as necessary.
  7. A quorum at NP Forum meetings will be president or vice president and a simple majority of the NP Forum Board

Nominating Committee Duties

  1. Prepare a slate of candidates for offices of the MIG. Only those nominees who have consented to serve will have their names appear on the ballot.
  2. Send the completed ballot to WNA in such time that the ballot can be emailed with the link to the electronic ballot for voting.
  3. Select a committee chairperson from among themselves yearly.

Each candidate will be vetted prior to appearing on the ballot by members of the NP Forum.
